Description of Project

Early 1900′ inner city one bedroom full brick semi-detached dwelling. Renovations consisted of an attic conversion creating a master bedroom with ensuite and storage.

Client Brief

To create a light filled and well ventilated master bedroom /ensuite with special consideration taken with the staircase design and material selection.

Outcome

A spacious master bedroom/ensuite creating a second bedroom dramatically increasing the proportions of the internal space.

Special Features

– Blackbutt open rise staircase with frameless glass handrail.
– Traditional western red cedar external windows.
– Traditional dorma window.

Builders Comments

We were able to carry out the works with the clients still occupying the house throughout construction. The new bedroom is spacious with great cross ventilation and natural light by having two opposing dorma windows.

A lot of consideration was taken with the staircase as it has become an architectural feature and not just a functional structure.

Testimonial

We owned a one bedroom terrace in Erskineville and wanted to add a second bedroom in the attic. We were very lucky to have Simon involved from the start – he referred us to a draftsman and provided valuable input to the renovation design prior to approval by council. The project required the existing ceiling height to be lowered to ensure sufficient sufficient height for the renovated room. It included the build of the new bedroom and ensuite and the erection of a new roof with dormer window.

We were surprised how painless the renovation process was especially given we remaining living at the house during the renovation. Simon is very easy to work with. Simon provides expert advice and we valued his input to decisions we had to make during the process.

Simon’s team is also very polite and dedicated and provides quality outcomes. Where Simon needed to outsource the work, e.g. tiling, stairs building, he works with quality contractors and ensures the installation is perfect. We were delighted with the outcome and the quality craftsmanship in the work was evident.

Simon’s attention to detail is phenomenal,  he puts the final perfect finishing touches on all he does. Simon and his team finished the renovation ahead of schedule with no major issues encountered. He was also to budget on the original scope of work. Simon is a great communicator and we trusted him throughout the process and were not disappointed – we’d totally recommend him.
